Kaleidozone is an online system for creating, saving, sending and browsing kaleidoscopic patterns. This project was created as part of Samsung's online and in-store Samsung Experience branding intitiative. A simple but flexible interface in the Editor allows visitors to place silhouettes onto an automatic kaleidoscope canvas, modifying their color, size, and rotation. Patterns can be saved and emailed to friends, and rendered as bmp files for use as desktop backgrounds. The Gallery includes all created patterns, allows users to vote for favorites, and displays patterns in order of popularity. Throughout the project, visitor control and freedom are carefully balanced with ease of use and constraints designed to facilitate successful results.
Technologies: Flash client, connecting to custom Java server software. XML data passing and custom Java vector-graphic rendering. SQL database.
